Serenata Hungarica: Budapest Spring Festival

О событии

Founded by Thomas Wimmer in 1988, the early music ensemble Serenata Hungarica originally sought to revive once popular instrumental pieces. Over the years, they extended their repertoire both geographically and temporally, and in 2012 they recorded 17th century works from, or related to, Hungary.

The CD called Serenata Hungarica features musical relics from old Hungarian manuscripts, as well as pieces by Johann Joseph Fux and Johann Heinrich Schmelzer.

Members of the ensemble: Tamás Kiss – vocals, hurdy‐gurdy, saz, cithern; Kálmán Balogh – cimbalom; Csaba Ökrös – violin; Karim Othman‐Hassan – oud; Ulli Engel, Monika Tóth – Baroque violin; Ivan Becka – Baroque viola; Thomas Wimmer – rebab, violin; Michael Posch – flute; Erich Traxler – harpsichord; Wolfgang Reithofer – percussion
