Jenufa — Leos Janácek
Sobre o Evento
With his opera Jenufa, Czech composer Leos Janácek confirmed his abilities as a dramatic author.
Janácek dedicated the opera to the memory of his daughter. The work is based on the tragic story of a peasant woman, and the plot brims with humanity and modernity. It was rejected by the director of the National Theater in Prague because it lacked the familiar melodramatic artifice. Instead, the composer sought to produce a refined realism.
At this production in Madrid's Teatro Real, Stéphane Braunschweig creates a sordid and dark atmosphere for the story, reflecting the secretive nature of peasant society.
