One of the world's most celebrated orchestras, Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra musters 120 players from around the world under the batons of great conductors, historic and contemporary. The ensemble's unique timbre is at least partially due to the extraordinary acoustic in its home - the legendary 1881 Main Hall of the Concertgebouw itself - which demands exceptional listening and collaborative music making from the orchestra's players. Particularly acclaimed for its interpretations of Bruckner and Mahler, the orchestra's repertoire and sound have been shaped by a series of extraordinary conductors, their number in recent years including Haitink, Chailly, Jansons, Harnoncourt, Gatti, and from 2027, wunderkind Klaus Mäkelä.
