Palazzo delle Prigioni
Wenecja, Włochy
The "Palazzo delle Prigioni" (Prisons' Palace), linked to Palazzo Ducale through the world famous Bridge of Sighs passing Rio di Palazzo, is a work by the architect Antonio da Ponte, who in 1589 completed the building started by Giovanni Antonio Rusconi in 1563.
The function of this palace was to partially integrate the prisons of Palazzo Ducale. In the following centuries, also considering the beauty of the rooms overlooking on Riva degli Schiavoni and on San Marco, Palazzo delle Prigioni has become a center for cultural events.
