The Snow Queen: Komische Oper Berlin

O wydarzeniu

Enjoy Hans Christian Andersen's beautiful story The Snow Queen, staged by Anisha Bondy to the music of Pierangelo Valtinoni.

Right up in the North, so far north that whichever way you turn, you're facing South, there is a fairy‐tale castle. This is the home of the Snow Queen, whose cold beauty has bewitched so many people. Anybody who enters her kingdom can never find a way out again and slowly freezes into a block of ice. This is what happens to a boy called Kay as well but his best friend Gerda has to set off to find her friend…

Firmly rooted in the tradition of lyrical Italian opera, Pierangelo Valtinoni provides music for the famous fairy‐tale by Hans Christian Andersen. It is a story about the yearning for distant places and the invincible power of true affection — which brings to life the characters and the adventures Gerda encounters on her journey.

Fairy‐tale opera in two acts (2010). Recommended for ages 6 and older.
