Spartacus, Ballet
O wydarzeniu
Enjoy the guest performance of Aram Khachaturian's ballet "Spartacus" performed by the Belarus Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Aram Khachaturian, the composer about his work:
I created my ballet as a monumental story of the ancient rebellion of the slaves in the defence of personal liberty that was like a powerful avalanche. I wrote the music on the same principle as composers before me, when treating historic topics – they retold the stories through the prism of their artistic sense, while remaining true to their handwriting and style. For me the ballet “Spartacus” is a romantically tense piece with powerful musical dramaturgy with wide artistic metaphors and explicit intonation of speech. I considered it important to apply all achievements of contemporary music culture to the expression of Spartacus’ sublime theme. Therefore, the ballet speaks a contemporary language that understands the contemporary problems of the musical‐theatrical form.
