This stellar all‐Berlioz program features the idiosyncratic and highly autobiographical Symphonie fantastique, a musical chronical of the composer's difficult love for an Irish actress. A touchstone of orchestral conducting, the wild work will be tamed by great maestro Valery Gergiev.

On the first half of the program, the Waverley Overture, based on the historical novel by Sir Walter Scott, will be followed by the Cleopatra cantata with the revelatory Scottish mezzo‐soprano Karen Cargill.
