Verdi's beloved opera, 'La Traviata', is presented in the intimate setting of St. Mark's Anglican Church by four singers in costume, accompanied by piano.
'La Traviata', the story of 'The Fallen One', based on the novel 'La dame aux Camelias' by Alexandre Dumas, was first performed at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice on March 6, 1853. More recently, the story was the basis for the movies such as 'Moulin Rouge' with Nicole Kidman.
An explanation and summary of the plot in English precedes each of the four acts.

Excellent. It is a wonderful treat to hear and see gorgeous opera in such an intimate venue. The quality of the voices is superb, and we return every year when we visit Florence. I highly recommend these performances.

Die Vorstellung war großartig. Ich hätte in einem derartigem — fast privatem — Rahmen nie mit Sängerinnen und Sängern auf so einem hohen Niveau gerechnet. Ich kann diese Aufführung nur weiterempfehlen.

A wonderful evening of fabulous music — beautiful voices in a lovely setting. Informal and relaxing atmosphere particularly enhanced by the humour and manner of the gentleman who introduced the performance and between the scenes. We will definitely recommend and hopefully have the opportunity to attend another evening at St Marks in the future.

Wir waren zwar etwas unsicher, als wir bei Ihnen die Buchung vornahmen, konnten uns aber davon überzeugen, dass diese Skepsis unberechtigt war. Das Opernerlebnis in Florenz war einmalig. Die abgespeckte Form von "La Traviata" (kein Orchester, sondern nur Flügel, Reduzierung auf die 4 Hauptpersonen) wurde wett gemacht durch die intime Atmosphäre, die hervorragenden Sänger, die tolle Akustik in der St. Mark's English Church und nicht zuletzt durch die hervorragenden reservierten Plätze in der 3. Reihe. Wir sind jederzeit wieder bereit, bei Ihnen zu buchen und Sie weiter zu empfehlen.
