An annual and much loved event, Maestro Chung leads the SPO and a distinguished cast of Korean singers in Beethoven’s renowned 9th Symphony, a work he recorded for Deutsche Grammophon to great acclaim.

The 9th was the first symphony by a major composer to utilize the human voice. Among the critics, it is universally considered one of the greatest works by one of the greatest composers. Some critics have called it the greatest piece of music ever written. In 2001, the original manuscript score of the Beethoven 9th Symphony became the first musical score to be included on the United Nations World Heritage List.
