Tijdens dit langverwachte concert hoor je de zachte klanken van klassieke muziek van Antonio Vivaldi en Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff in de geliefde en wereldberoemde St Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich.
De uitzonderlijke musici van het Piccadilly Sinfonietta voeren Vivaldi's tijdloze klassieker De vier jaargetijden uit bij kaarslicht in de prachtige omgeving van de St Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich. Op het programma staat ook Rachmaninovs immer populaire Tweede Pianoconcert met de toonaangevende concertpianist Warren Mailley‐Smith.

Warren Mailley‐Smith heeft in heel Groot‐Brittannië een grote schare fans opgebouwd, met publiek dat warmloopt voor zijn uitmuntende pianisme, moeiteloze techniek en charismatische charme. In 2015 veroorzaakte hij opschudding in de muziekwereld door zijn buitengewone prestatie om het complete solowerk van Chopin uit zijn hoofd uit te voeren. Zijn carrière heeft hem over de hele wereld gebracht, met solo‐optredens in Australië, Europa en tournees door China en de VS. Hij heeft veelgeprezen solorecitals gegeven in The Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall en heeft talloze malen opgetreden voor de Britse koninklijke familie. Hij is een van de drukst bezette concertpianisten van zijn generatie en gaf vorig jaar meer dan 100 solo‐optredens. Hij heeft 30 pianoconcerten op zijn repertoire en maakte zijn concertdebuut met het Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Piccadilly Sinfonietta
Sinds de oprichting in 2017 is The Piccadilly Sinfonietta een vaste waarde geworden in de Britse concertwereld, met meer dan 200 optredens per jaar in een aantal van de mooiste en meest prestigieuze locaties van het land. Het ensemble bestaat uit een aantal van de meest wonderbaarlijke muzikale talenten en treedt uitsluitend op met toonaangevende virtuoze solisten. De groep treedt op onder de artistieke leiding van de oprichter, concertpianist Warren Mailley‐Smith en richt zich op het virtuoze concertrepertoire van de barok, de klassieke periode en de vroege romantiek.

Antonio Vivaldi
Antonio Vivaldi went down in history as a creator of the instrumental concert genre and the father of orchestral music. He was born in Venice on the 4th of March 1678. Vivaldi was a weak and sickly child suffering from asthma, however could not stop him from devoting himself completely to music. His father, Giovanni Batista a professional violinist, taught his elder son Antonio to play the violin. With his father young Antonio met the best musicians of Venice of that time and gave concerts in local churches. He also worked as a violin teacher and later as a music director at the orphanage Ospedalle della Pieta. Meanwhile he composed concertos, sacred works and vocal music and in 1713 he achieved great recognition with his sacred choral music. Vivaldi got captivated by the world of opera and worked both as opera composer and impresario at the Teatro San Angelo. In 1717 he obtained a prestigious position by the prince court in Manua as a director of secular music and worked there until around 1720. During that time he composed his world-renowned masterpiece The Four Seasons. In the 1730's his career dwindled as his music became unfashionable and the great composer died in poverty. It took the world two centuries to rediscover and reevaluate Vivaldi’s music, as it was buried into oblivion after his death. In the early 20th century many previously unknown works were found and immediately captured the hearts of the music lovers.
