James Conlon dirige un programme axé sur la tradition symphonique viennoise de la fin du XVIIIe siècle, avec des pièces de Gluck, Mozart et Haydn, notamment la célèbre Symphonie "Drumroll".

Sous la direction de James Conlon, chef d'orchestre honoraire de l'ORT, le programme nous transporte dans la Vienne de la fin du XVIIIe siècle. Le maestro américain présente la célèbre symphonie de Mozart, ainsi qu'un chef‐d'œuvre de Franz Joseph Haydn, qui a influencé le genre symphonique. La symphonie K.550 de Mozart fait partie d'une trilogie créée en 1788, alors qu'il avait trente‐deux ans, et est connue pour sa profondeur émotionnelle en sol mineur. La symphonie de Haydn, surnommée "Roulement de tambour", commence par un effet sonore distinct.

Le concert commence par l'opéra de Gluck "Orfeo ed Euridice", qui visait à réformer l'opéra italien à travers un mythe fondateur du théâtre musical, racontant l'histoire d'un chanteur qui reconquiert sa femme auprès du dieu des enfers.

ORT's performances are broadcast nationally by RAI‐Radiotre Suite and in Tuscany by Rete Toscana Classica.
