Le violoniste grec virtuose, Leonidas Kavakos, a, dès ses débuts, fait preuve d’un don exceptionnel. Issu d’une famille de musiciens, il joue dès l’âge de cinq ans. Il se produisit en concert au Festival d'Athènes de 1984 alors qu’il était âgé d’à peine 18 ans. Il devint un an plus tard le plus jeune candidat à ce jour à remporter le prestigieux Concours Sibelius qui marqua un tournant dans sa carrière de ce jeune musicien et lui permit de se faire connaître du public international. Kavakos a enregistré des albums et été acclamé par la critique du monde entier, notamment lorsqu’il se produisit aux côtés d’ensembles renommés tels que l’Orchestre philarmonique de Berlin, l’Orchestre symphonique de Londres et le Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. Il est célèbre pour son interprétation exceptionnelle des sonates pour violon de Beethoven.
