Willem Brons Presents Wakana Shimizu
Amsterdam, De Waalse Kerk
About the Event
In the final concert of this season, pianist Wakana Shimizu will play a variety of works including a composition for four hands with Willem Brons.
Wakana Shimizu's versatile program begins and ends with two special compositions with the name Bach attached. Shimizu starts with the moving chaconne in Brahms' stylistic version for the left hand and ends with Liszt's variations on a motif from Bach's cantata Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen. In between is an absolute highlight of piano literature, Schumann's Kreisleriana, and one of Shimizu's favorite pieces. You will also hear a first this afternoon: And an absolute first: Shimizu and Brons will perform Schumann's Bilder aus dem Osten together in duo for the first time.
