VOCES8: »Twenty! 20 Songs from 20 Years«

About the Event

VOCES8, “the Rolls‐Royce of British a cappella ensembles” (The Arts Desk), is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The proud occasion will be celebrated with an anniversary program and music from several centuries. The 20 most popular and well‐known pieces of the ensemble can be heard, which also pay tribute to the masterful arrangers of the ensemble. After all, the truly extensive repertoire — from the Renaissance to vocal works from the Classical and Romantic periods to Frank Sinatra, Simon & Garfunkel and modern pop music — is part of the eight British singers' success.

But versatility and the celebration of different forms of musical expression are also at the heart of VOCES8's philosophy. Gramophone magazine considers the singing of these extraordinary artists to be “impeccable in its sound quality and balance. They add a new dimension to the word 'ensemble' with their meticulous timing and tuning”. The BBC described the vocal ensemble, nominated for a Grammy in 2023, as a successful blend of “two parts King's Singers, three parts Swingle Singers and a good dash of Bobby McFerrin”.
