Visionary Sounds: Spells and Revelations
New York, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music
About the Event
In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Franz Schubert, Henry Purcell, Hildegard von Bingen, Matthew Aucoin and Freya Waley‐Cohen at New York's treasured and world‐renowned The DiMenna Center for Classical Music.
The world premiere of Matthew Aucoin’s Revelations of Divine Love, Chapter III for baritone and piano quintet brings to life the writings of 14th‐century visionary Julian of Norwich, the first English text by a woman, while selections from Freya Waley‐Cohen's Spell Book Volume 2 explore the transformative power of language through the contemporary poems of Rebecca Tamás. Complimenting these newer works are classic pieces by Franz Schubert, Henry Purcell, and Hildegard von Bingen. A complimentary beer and wine reception follows the concert.
