Tiburtina Ensemble & Medieval Advent at Church of St. Simon and St. Jude
About the Event
Interpretation of Gregorian chant, the beginnings of medieval polyphony and their strong connection with church spaces and Christian liturgy. Last year, the Tiburtina Ensemble, a women's vocal ensemble, celebrated 15 years of artistic existence and as part of the celebrations, it has also prepared a new unique project taking the audience to the very heart of Europe, to the heart of the 'old continent'. The Czech lands were certainly not considered the cradle of modern music and musical invention during the Middle Ages. This certain lateness in cultural development, however, is surprisingly interesting not only for art historians but also for the ordinary listener. The late medieval production of the so‐called Aquitanian polyphony will provide a literally uplifting experience during Advent and the coming Christmas season.
