The Barber of Seville: Paris Opera
About the Event
Damiano Michieletto made his directing debut at the Paris Opera with this production of Rossini's ever‐popular 'Barber of Seville'. Marianne Crebassa and Andrzej Filończyk perform the starring roles in this dynamic and turbulent staging.
This is undoubtedly the most famous opera buffa in the history of music and an eternal source of delight. Rossini composed it in just a few weeks, borrowing the overture and certain airs from his own serious and comic works. All of the remarkable ensembles, however, are original. In the finale of the first act, Rossini combines multiple styles and interlinks duos, trios, quintets and sextets with stupefying virtuosity. Il barbiere di Siviglia was also one of the first operatic triumphs in Europe.
Performed in Italian, with surtitles in English and French.
