In Germany, it is unusual to hear a guitar concert in the Festspielhaus. The instrument is often associated with campfires and rock music in this country. However, in Spain, the guitar holds a different significance as a symbol of both pride and sadness. It embodies strict rhythm as well as the freedom to lose oneself in improvisation. Manuel de Falla, a renowned Spanish composer, skillfully combines these contrasting elements to create a musical tribute to the French composer Claude Debussy.
