Conway Hall welcomes back the renowned Trio Klein for a captivating and unique programme that reimagines music from the 80s. Through bold arrangements, the trio pairs John Adams's exhilarating "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" (1986) with the iconic Duran Duran hit "Rio" (1982). To further stimulate the audience, Sofia Gubaidulina's trio from 1988 and Alfred Schnittke's trio from 1983 are skillfully integrated, creating a powerful juxtaposition with the works of Bach, the precursor to these divergent styles. This carefully curated programme appeals to both traditional concert‐goers and those attracted to the intriguing combination of multigenerational repertoire, particularly those nostalgic for the vibrant 80s era.
