Summer Sounds at Schloss Grafenegg: Celtic Beethoven

About the Event

Although Ludwig van Beethoven never played the bagpipes in the Highlands, George Thomson managed to capture his interest in Scotland through music. Thomson, a passionate collector and publisher of his homeland's music, sought Beethoven's expertise in adapting popular songs of the British Isles for the international market. As a result, Beethoven crafted a remarkable collection of English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh songs that delighted audiences. Presenting this unique musical fusion, the "Celtic Beethoven" performance by Karen Kamensek, the Tonkunstler Orchestra, and a specialist ensemble of vocals, fiddle, harp, percussion, and bagpipes, offers an authentic and captivating experience.
