Built to modernize prison conditions in the sixteenth century, the Palazzo delle Prigioni (Prisons' Palace) is now a center for cultural events. From the Palazzo Ducale, visitors cross the world-famous Bridge of Sighs to access the Palazzo delle Prigioni, with its beautiful rooms overlooking Riva degli Schiavoni and onto San Marco.
