Rossini: La Cenerentola at Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
Baden‐Baden, Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
About the Event
Naturally, he also stayed in Baden‐Baden on his spa tour of Germany in 1856. The world‐famous Gioachino Rossini was well established in the fashionable summer capital, as the German premiere of his “Stabat Mater” took place here in the old theater in 1842. Rossini had composed his most romantic opera 25 years earlier: “La Cenerentola”. Thomas Hengelbrock presents it as a staged concert at the Autumn Festival. The conductor likes to come up with surprising discoveries in his interpretations, the results of his meticulous study of the sources.
