Villa Amerika/ Dvorak Museum
Prague, Czech Republic
Originally built as a summer palace for Vaclav Michna Vacinov, the Villa Amerika today hosts the Dvorak Museum in the heart of Prague.
The palace was built by Kilian Ignac Diezenhofer between 1712 and 1720, and became a salon for the aristocracy, later even a pub for German students of medicine. Today the museum offers precious exhibits and is a research center for the works of Antonin Dvorak and his followers — the Czech composers Josef Suk, Vitezslav Novak and Oskar Nedbal. Furthermore, classical concerts are regularly performed in this space.
