Palais Garnier
The Palais Garnier is a opera house completed in 1875 for the Paris Opera. The structure, named for its architect, Charles Garnier, seats an audience of nearly 2000 people. Since its inauguration, the theatre has been home to the Paris Opera and the Paris Opera Ballet. The building is considered one of the most famous opera houses in the world and a symbol of Paris. As well as presenting internationally-acclaimed performances, the Palais also houses the Paris Opera Library-Museum, and was the setting for Gaston Leroux' 'The Phantom of the Opera'.
