About the Event

Two exceptional young Scandinavian musicians, a renowned French orchestra, two masterpieces of music history: Berlin audiences can look forward to a special concert evening.

Tarmo Peltokoski comes from Finland and, at the age of 24, is considered a shooting star on the conducting scene. Although his great passion is the music of Richard Wagner — which he fell in love with at the age of eleven — he made his Deutsche Grammophon debut with three Mozart symphonies.

Peltokoski will conduct the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse at the guest performance in Berlin. Together they will perform Bruckner's Fourth Symphony, the “Romantic”, and Mozart's Third Violin Concerto.

The soloist is “miracle violinist” (Süddeutsche Zeitung) Daniel Lozakovich, who has captivated critics and audiences worldwide. “Perfect mastery. An exceptional talent”, stated the specialist magazine Le Figaro. The young Swede had his big breakthrough in 2016: as the winner of the Vladimir Spivakov Competition, he made international headlines and signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon at the age of 15, where he has since released four albums.

Program

  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major, K. 216
  • Anton Bruckner – Sinfonie Nr. 4 Es‐Dur („Romantische“)

Artists

Orchestra: Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse

The Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse was created at the beginning of the 19th century for the Théâtre du Capitole's operatic seasons and became established as a Symphonic Orchestra after 1945, conducted by André Cluytens and Georges Prêtre.

Michel Plasson's arrival in 1968 was a decisive step in the life of the orchestra: under his direction its symphonic vocation developed considerably, embarking on many great tours outside France and building up a large discography with Emi France. Within the framework of the music renewal plan launched by Marcel Landowski, the number of performers in the orchestra rose to 104 musicians and in 1980, the Minister of Culture awarded it the title of National Orchestra.

In 2005, the Russian conductor Tugan Sokhiev was appointed Musical Chief to the Orchestre National du Capitole.
