About the Event
Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of London's breathtaking Stoke Newington Old Church for the ultimate choral concert. Choral collective Idrîsî Ensemble present the music of the trobairitz – female poets and musicians of 13th‐Century Occitania.
Idrîsî Ensemble offer a rare opportunity to dive into the UNESCO‐protected polyphonic sounds of the mediaeval Mediterranean. This collective of folk, jazz, classical, and soul singers are inspired by groundbreaking research into the music of Corsica, Sardinia, Greece, and Rome and have received widespread praise for their impassioned live performances which focus on the music of the trobairitz – female poets and musicians of 13th‐Century Occitania.
Pioneering a fresh approach to historical performance, the Idrîsî Ensemble performs medieval repertoire from period manuscripts, together with UNESCO‐protected and endangered traditions.
