Mozart & Salieri at Church of St. Simon and St. Jude
Prague, Church of St. Simon and Jude (Kostel sv. Šimona a Judy) — Main concert hall
About the Event
Artistic exaggeration can sometimes go awry. That's when Pushkin, in his drama Mozart and Salieri, has Salieri murder his friend Mozart out of envy. Then the American playwright Peter Shaffer and then the Czech director Miloš Forman seize on it, and the suggestive Amadeus is born. But where is the truth? The truth is that Antonio Salieri even taught Mozart's son Franz Xaver, as well as Franz Schubert. It is most appropriate to be aware of such facts in May 2025, the 200th anniversary of the death of the famous Viennese Italian. And this in the church where Mozart played the organ and where the FOK Chamber Orchestra plays with its leading players under the direction of the young conductor Jiří Habart.
