Molière: L’Avare
About the Event
A timeless performance of Molière's classic comedy 'The Miser.' With all due respect to Molière, this Miser is generous, never once skimping on its invigorating delights. Yet frugality is everywhere: in the painted canvas set, in the pared‐back staging, in the sober acting. Nothing stands in the way of the text, dulling its shine or diluting its brilliance. The actors thrill us, tackling the words with utter brio. Jérôme Deschamps as the pot‐bellied Harpagon jealously guarding his gold is jubilant and luminous, as are Macha Makeïeff's splendid costumes, filling our coffers with joy.
