Mayerling — Kenneth MacMillan: Paris National Opera Ballet
About the Event
Immerse yourself in a tale of love, madness, obsession and political intrigue at the Habsburg Court. Kenneth MacMillan's Mayerling is one of the British choreographer's most successful works.
Set to a ravishing score by Franz Liszt, MacMillan's darkly theatrical work tells the story of Crown Prince Rudolf and his mistress, Marie Vetsera, whose combined history ends tragically at the Mayerling Hunting Lodge. Combining classical elegance with drama to telling effect, MacMillan explores the family secrets and political powerplays of the Empress Sissi's court.
