About the Event
“Playing like on the highway” was the title of an article by BR‐Klassik about his debut with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2024. This 25‐year‐old pianist is undoubtedly in the fast lane: Mao Fujita won his first international competition at the age of twelve with ‘The World Classic’ in Taiwan.
Numerous other competition successes and soon invitations to festivals and concerts worldwide as well as an exclusive contract with Sony Classical followed. He completed his studies at the conservatory in his home city of Tokyo and at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule with Kirill Gerstein. He was particularly taken with the music of Mozart: “With Mozart, I was particularly impressed by how quickly he developed as a composer. The beauty of his compositions never ceases to amaze me.”
His enthusiasm is infectious — to be experienced in an intimate piano recital in the Chamber Music Hall, whose program also includes works by Chopin and Beethoven. In his rapid development, the young Japanese composer is in no way inferior to his favorite composer — he is accelerating, which is confirmed by his recent award of an Opus Klassik 2023.
