Les musiciens du Louvre at Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
Baden‐Baden, Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
About the Event
Musical idiosyncrasies: In the past, France had little exposure to the music of Anton Bruckner, whereas Germany remained largely unfamiliar with the works of Ernest Chausson. A clear distinction between French and German composers becomes evident through Chausson's Poème for soprano and orchestra. While the German composers were captivated by the tempestuous Dutch sea storms, in Paris, the focus was on the interplay between light and waves. To fully appreciate Bruckner's sixth symphony, renowned for its brilliance, one should complement it with a listening experience of Chausson's compositions. Interestingly, the rhythmic motifs that characterize Bruckner's symphony were inspired by moments aboard a train during the Austrian composer's journey.
