Leila Josefowicz & Tomáš Brauner at Municipal House
Prague, Municipal House (Obecní dum) — Smetana Hall
About the Event
Leila means night. Yes, Leila Josefowicz often dresses in black, but her playing brings the day, brightens the soul. The Canadian Lakes native is a truly unique character. Already in the fact that she has devoted herself almost exclusively to modern music concertos have been written for her by John Adams, Thomas Adès, Luca Francesconi and Esa‐Pekka Salonen. She and Bartók may have missed each other by a few years, but his concerto also suits Leila's nature perfectly. Just like our chief conductor Tomáš Brauner's monumental music by Richard Strauss. Yes, The Life of a Hero, that's eight horns, four oboes, two small drums… Just right for the Smetana Hall.
