About the Event

Delve into the awe‐inspiring beauty of Sydney Opera House and experience a world‐class performance that enhances your appreciation of opera.

Witness the timeless love saga of bohemia revisited.
A quartet of artistic souls — a painter, a musician, a philosopher, and a poet — decide to paint the town red. Despite their thin wallets, they let nothing dampen their spirits at the lavish Café Momus.

Recall the intense pull of first love, the scorching sting of jealousy, and the swift maturity that comes when realizing love is not eternal.

There are feelings words cannot convey, for which we turn to music. La Bohème opens your heart to these deep emotions, ascending with the joy of romance, igniting with the sharpness of envy, and mourning the sorrow of separation.

Gale Edwards’ celebrated production, sparkling amidst the cabarets of 1930s Berlin, continues to captivate with Kang Wang’s renowned portrayal of Rodolfo and Olivia Cranwell as Mimi.

Sydney Opera House

In Sydney, Australia, the Sydney Opera House presents a diverse array of performances. Recognized as one of the most iconic and distinguished buildings of the 20th Century and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it was conceptualized by Danish architect Jørn Utzon to serve multiple performance purposes. Annually, over 1.2 million spectators attend roughly 1,500 performances there. The lineup features both international guest artists and local talent, supported by its three resident groups: the Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Giacomo Puccini

Giacomo Puccini, hailing from Italy, rose to prominence as an opera composer in the late 19th century. He ranks just below Verdi in terms of esteem within the pantheon of Italian Opera composers. Initially, Puccini's compositions echoed the romantic nuances typical of 19th-century Italian opera. Over time, however, he embraced the verismo style of realism, leading him to create his most celebrated works and establishing him as a key figure in that genre. His acclaimed operas, including La Bohème (1896), Tosca (1900), Madama Butterfly (1904), and Turandot (1924), continue to grace the stages of the world’s most esteemed classical music venues.
