About the Event
Experience the harmonious fusion of cultures and sounds with the KAYAN Project — a musical journey that transcends borders.
“Kayan” is the Arabic word for ‘existence’. As the Kayan Project, Berlin musicians from Israel‐Palestine, Syria and Poland exist as an extraordinary ensemble that has gathered around the singer Eden Cami. The young formation of Arabic Ud, double bass and percussion combines classical and modern music as well as poetry from the Levant with elements of jazz, which Eden Cami interweaves with her Arabic and Hebrew singing. The lyricist Jan Wagner writes: “The virtuosically plucked ud and the gliding and snapping and artful stumbling of the double bass meet somewhere on the border between folk and jazz, and the wonderful singing of singer‐songwriter Eden Cami echoes both.
