Karel Martínek — Organ Recital at Municipal House
Prague, Municipal House (Obecní dum) — Smetana Hall
About the Event
For the first time, Karel Martínek sits down at the magnificent organ in the Smetana Hall. Organist and insightful Moravian improviser, who knows in detail the organs in both Olomouc sanctuaries St. Moritz Cathedral and St. Wenceslas Cathedral. Like Louis Vierne, he knew his organ intimately at Notre Dame, Marcel Dupré at St Sulpicius and Thierry Escaich at Saint-Étienne‐du‐Mont. Yes, they are all located in Paris, where Karel Martínek studied and fell in love with French music, which so befits the monumental instrument in the Municipal House. Of course, Johann Sebastian Bach must not be missed, for he is the chief organist in heaven.
