Rossini's 'Il Viaggio a Reims' was commissioned by the Théâtre Italien as part of the festivities which marked the coronation of Charles V. Recognized as one of the climaxes in Rossini's career, the opera work combines a fanciful storyline, virtuosic coloratura, and a fourteen‐voice ensemble.
