About the Event

Igor Ardashev has met FOK repeatedly. Whether in recitals — the first one in 1988 — or with the orchestra let us recall, for example, the remarkable joint recording of Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto or the performance of both Shostakovich piano concertos under the baton of Maxim Shostakovich. It is also amazing to listen to the images of Ardashev's performances at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, where he won 6th place in 1991. Again and again the listener experiences vertigo at the depths to which he must go to see Ardashev. The programme of this recital also opens up the aforementioned space, and we can only be grateful that this profound artist turns his attention this time to the immortal Variations on a Diabelli Waltz.

Program

  • Georg Friedrich Händel – Suite No. 5 in E Major, HWV 430
  • Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev – Cinderella Op. 97 and Op. 102 (selection)
  • Ludwig van Beethoven – 33 Variationen über einen Walzer von Diabelli, op. 120
