Francesco Piemontesi — Piano Recital at Rudolfinum

About the Event

The New York Times wrote in 1969 about a sensational discovery near Graz: At the bottom of a chest in an abandoned house lay a copy of a fantasy by Franz Schubert. There are doubts about its authenticity, but it contains typical Schubert elements such as scale and chromatic runs, the rhythm of a polonaise, and above all a beautiful opening melody. The sensitive, poetic interpretation of the melodies is one of the strengths of Francesco Piemontesi, a regular performer of Schubert's works at the Schubertiade Festival, where this year he will be performing the same programme as in Prague. Alongside Schubert, Beethoven's Wallenstein Sonata will stand out for its technical difficulty and virtuosity.
