About the Event

For an extraordinary evening of piano classics, visit the impressive Chiostro di Campitelli al Teatro di Marcello in Rome to hear the masterpieces of Johann Sebastian Bach, Gabriel Fauré, Jean‐Philippe Rameau, Naji Hakim and Guiseppe Martucci.

J.S. Bach — Partita No. 1 in B‐flat major, BWV 825
A work in six movements, characterized by a formal and stylistic structure typical of the Baroque suite. Each movement is a dance, with an interweaving of elegance and expressive depth. The Partita opens with a Prelude, followed by the Allemande, Corrente, Sarabande, Minuet I and II, and ends with the Gigue.

J.P. Rameau — L'Égyptienne
A piece from “Nouvelles Suites de Pièces de Clavecin,” evoking the energy and charm of ancient Egypt. The music is brilliant, with lively rhythmic passages and baroque ornamentation, conveying a sense of dance and continuous movement.

G. Martucci/J.P. Rameau — Musetta from Les Indes Galantes
A reworking of the famous aria from Rameau's opera‐ballet, “Les Indes Galantes.” Martucci offers a piano arrangement that retains the original gallant spirit and exotic charm, skillfully blending Italian and French sensibilities.

G. Fauré — Waltz‐Capriccio op.30 and Waltz op.38
These two pieces, full of grace and lightness, represent the elegance and refinement of late French Romanticism. Waltz‐Capriccio op.30 is a brilliant work with flowing melodic lines and virtuosity, while Waltz op.38 is more lyrical and delicate, but with a touch of whimsy.

Naji Hakim — Overture Libanaise
A contemporary composition by Lebanese composer Naji Hakim, characterized by influences from traditional Middle Eastern music. The music mixes vibrant colors and energetic rhythms, with a solemn structure that evokes the breadth and history of Lebanon. The overture is a celebration of cultural diversity through a modern musical language.
