Dresdner Musikfestspiele: Xi’an Orchestra of Traditional Chinese Music
Dresden, Kulturpalast — Main Hall
About the Event
A cultural evening with the Xi’an Orchestra, presenting melodies from the Tang Dynasty.
The audience can look forward to a fantastic evening of traditional Chinese music and performing arts, when the Xi'an Orchestra and vocal soloists will expertly evoke the characteristic soundscapes of their homeland. The concert will focus, among other things, on the drum music of Xi'an, its city of origin, and thus a unique art form that has been recognized as a World Heritage and National Heritage site. The musicians of the Xi'an Orchestra play on such fascinating instruments as a bell and tone stone chime, the Chinese zithers guqin, se and zhazheng, the Chinese wind instrument xun, and the konghou harp. In a colorful and unique performance, the guests from China will take festival‐goers on a journey back to the Tang Dynasty, impressively presenting the cultural richness of the Far East with traditional songs, compositions, and choreography.
