Dresdner Musikfestspiele: Janine Jansen & Camerata Salzburg
Dresden, Kulturpalast — Main Hall
About the Event
A dazzling performance by violinist Janine Jansen with the Camerata Salzburg, featuring Bach and Mendelssohn. Dutch violinist Janine Jansen is one of the most celebrated artists of her instrument. She moves and inspires audiences worldwide with her passionate music‐making and stupendous technique. Now the virtuoso and likeable star violinist finally makes her debut at the Music Festival. She is joined by her musical partner, the Camerata Salzburg – a collaboration that both consider a unique stroke of luck. This spirit is likely to be carried through to the interpretation of Mendelssohn's famous E minor Violin Concerto, the melodically flowing beginning of which Jansen describes as “pure beauty”. The Camerata Salzburg then turns to another of the composer's milestones: the “Reformation Symphony”, written to mark the 300th anniversary of the “Augsburg Confession”. The program is rounded off with Ricercare a 6 by Bach, the grandmaster of the Baroque, whose rediscovery was championed by none other than Mendelssohn.
