Dresdner Musikfestspiele: Annett Renneberg & Klenke Quartett
Dresden, Palais im Großen Garten — Main Hall
About the Event
Embark on a melodious tour of Venice with actor Annett Renneberg and the illustrious Klenke Quartet, celebrating a confluence of music and verse.
Since their inception in 1991 at Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar, the all‐female Klenke Quartet has maintained a stable lineup, a testament to their synergistic dynamics. Critics have long praised their musical "glow," which continues to illuminate their performances. Annett Renneberg, known for her role as Signorina Elettra in the “Commissario Brunetti” series based on Donna Leon's books, joins the quartet. Titled “And Venice Again and Again,” this performance blends Renneberg's readings—including works by Henry James, Goethe, Thomas Mann, Rose Ausländer, and Donna Leon—with a rich musical selection. The lineup features pieces like Maddalena Laura Lombardini Sirmen’s Second String Quartet, Hugo Wolf’s vibrant “Italian Serenade,” and Giuseppe Verdi’s sole string quartet.
Program:
“And Venice Again and Again” — A musical and literary homage featuring readings from Rose Ausländer, Franz Grillparzer, Henry James, Donna Leon, Thomas Mann, Ulrich Tukur, and others, alongside compositions by Maddalena Laura Lombardini Sirmen String Quartet No. 2 in B‐flat major, Giuseppe Verdi String Quartet in E minor, and Hugo Wolf’s ‘Italian Serenade’ in G major (arranged for string quartet).
