About the Event
Childlike curiosity and wonder about everything around us is the common thread in this program, and experiencing nature is the key word.
Many composers over the centuries have found inspiration in nature. What does the rain, the wind sound like? How do the stars, falling snow crystals with their soft and ever‐changing shapes sound? How close are these sounds to the human voice? In this program, the music revolves around everything we can hear and experience around us.
The title Voices of Nature is inspired by Alfred Schnittke's work Stimmen der Natur, which has a central place in this program. This particular work is framed by beautiful choral compositions that illustrate and sing of nature in contrasting ways, as well as a number of Norwegian folk songs. A tribute to nature in all its facets: ancient, mysterious or bright and enchanting! The choir sings, among others, Aether by Jordan Nobles, Huldra by Fåvard Gravdal, two pieces by Ēriks Ešenvalds, Stars and Spring, The Sweet Spring, Snowforms by R. Murray Schafer and Pseudo Yoik by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.ing ensemble. In a relatively short time we work to the highest possible level. The ensemble has a broad taste: basically all classical repertoire suitable for our composition, starting from early medieval music to contemporary.
Practical Information
The Bösendorfer Series is a series of intimate piano recitals in which nine top pianists shine behind our Bösendorfer Imperial Grand grand piano. The Bösendorfer Series is made possible in part by Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam.
