Collegium 1704 & Scarlatti at Church of St. Simon and St. Jude

About the Event

Although the famous Collegium 1704 was officially founded in 2005, it played under the FOK banner at the Church of St. Simon and Jude with its founder and artistic director Václav Luks as early as October 2003. Incidentally, the programme at that time included a part of an oratorio by Josef Mysliveček, who is today almost fatefully linked with the ensemble. Collegium 1704 returns to our church after four years. Whereas in October 2020 the music was purely instrumental, in October 2024 we will welcome our sister vocal ensemble Collegium Vocale 1704. Thanks to them, the ten‐part, wide‐echoed Stabat Mater by Domenico Scarlatti, which he composed during his Vatican tenure, will also be the focus of the evening.
