About the Event

Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Verona's breathtaking Teatro Ristori for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of american movie music.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, American music, a reflection of the multiplicity of ethnic groups that make up the country's population, has begun to spread throughout the world. A kind of “musical globalization” or “virtuous contamination” that involved everyone. The concert is a journey into the “other 900” of American music, that which is inseparably linked to gospel, jazz, swing and great Cinema. The journey then starts from the origins, with a short selection of gospel and spiritual songs, through the great composers of the 1930s it develops by crossing the musical, from Geroge Gershwin to Leonard Bernstein up to the 1950s, also evaluating the influence that American music and swing determined in some of our composers. Finally, he lands on Cinema with some unforgettable songs associated with Walt Disney's cartoons and, late 1970s, the movie “Saturday Night Fever.” All through original and very entertaining elaborations for voices and string orchestra written especially for the Ensemble Gli Alti & Bassi.
