María Pagés — De Scheherezade
Valencia, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia — Sala Principal
About the Event
De Scheherezade is a work to remember, 'a discovery, in a performer who always applies inventiveness to her work'. María Pagés is a dancer from Seville and winner of the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts. She has crossed boundaries with this successful show. Elegant, 'powerful in its poetics', it tells a story of female diversity in twelve choreographies, which takes over the action and seizes the stage, both in real terms and symbolically. Thirteen women with a strong identity storm the stage, the stage of life, making use of a free and open dialogue between classical, popular and flamenco music, performed by a string and percussion quartet, accompanied by an Arabic voice and two flamenco voices.
