On December 13, Sweden celebrates Saint Lucia, one of the country's most beloved cultural traditions. Rooted in a rich mixture of pre‐Christmas customs, the Lucia celebration symbolizes the driving away of evil and the return of light. The atmospheric Lucia procession, led by Lucia herself with candles in her hair, followed by maids and star boys, all dressed in white, is a truly unique and quintessentially Swedish experience.
