La Madeleine Church Paris
The Neo-Classical Église La Madeleine was originally a monument to 'the glory of the Grande Armée'. After the fall of Napoleon, Louis XVIII decreed that the building should be used as a church, dedicated to Mary Magdalene. The building was consecrated as a Catholic church in 1842, and it was the site of funeral masses for famous composers, such as Frédéric Chopin (†1849) and Gabriel Fauré (†1924).
