About the Event
St Mary le Strand, known as the 'Jewel' of the Strand, is delighted to host the third installment of the Strand International Piano Series, following its highly praised debut in the 2022‐23 season. This year's series will focus on Debussy's Preludes, masterfully crafted between 1909 and 1913. These compositions exemplify Debussy's innovative piano techniques and are a testament to his command of impressionism. Across two books, each containing twelve pieces, Debussy brilliantly conjures striking images, moods, and atmospheres through music.
About Viv McLean
Acclaimed by Le Monde for possessing a rare genius, British pianist Viv McLean has captivated audiences following his First Prize victory at the Maria Canals Piano Competition in Barcelona. McLean has graced all major UK venues and toured extensively across Europe, Japan, Australia, and the USA. His concerto engagements feature performances with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and London Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. He has collaborated under esteemed conductors like Daniel Harding, Wayne Marshall, and Rebecca Miller, showcasing his versatility and prowess.
