Debussy Preludes by Candlelight — Strand International Piano Series with Andrew Zolinsky

About the Event

St Mary le Strand, known as the 'Jewel' of the Strand, proudly hosts the third Strand International Piano Series, following its highly successful debut in the 2022‐23 season.

This year's series will focus on Debussy's Preludes. Written between 1909 and 1913, these pieces exemplify Debussy's groundbreaking approach to piano music and his skill in impressionistic techniques. Consisting of two books with twelve pieces each, the preludes highlight Debussy's talent for conjuring vivid imagery, moods, and atmospheres through his compositions.

Andrew Zolinsky's distinctive programming style and personal interpretations have earned him performances at many renowned venues and festivals worldwide. His collaborations with contemporary composers inject a fresh vitality, energy, and passion into his renditions of music from earlier eras. Despite being recognized for contemporary repertoire, Andrew delights in performing a wide array of music from various periods. His concerto repertoire includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Grieg, Rachmaninoff, Gershwin, and Barber, and he has played these composers with leading orchestras like the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Sinfonietta, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, and the Orchestre National de Lorraine, alongside esteemed conductors such as Stefan Asbury, Miguel Harth‐Bedoya, Martyn Brabbins, Baldur Brönnimann, Diego Masson, Andre De Ridder, David Robertson, Ryan McAdams, and Pascal Rophe.
